Philippians 2:3 – “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. |
Today’s scripture tells us that we should not value our own vainglory in what we do. We should honor God with our talents and abilities. We cannot do anything without God. He created us. He shaped us, formed us, and gave us breath in our lungs. The talents and abilities we have are gifts from God and not for our own gratification and pleasure. We should use them in service to others without any regard for recognition or honor. God gets the glory and the honor. When someone tells us “Good job” or “Way to go” let’s take “self” out of the picture. Look up in humility towards heaven and tell God “Thank you” by pointing others to him as the glory belongs to him. He is the reason for our existence and our purpose. For that reason, I am most grateful to my Lord.
Prayer: Lord, thank you for allowing us to be stewards of the gifts and talents you have given to us. It all belongs to you. You are the light that shines through us. We honor you. In Jesus name, Amen.
