Nahum 1:7 – “The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; He knows those who take refuge in Him…” |
Too often my soul’s peace and contentment are bound to the people and circumstances around me. This puts me feeling overwhelmed and in a fight-or-flight mode. This week I’ve been fixated on the song, Goodness of God. One of my favorites that I’ve heard many times…. But this week this line played over and over in my head – All my life you have been faithful. All my life you have been so, so good. So what really hit me is, ALL MY LIFE. Not just in the times, circumstances, and people that I’ve judged as Good. All of it. There are some things I’ve gone through, in life, that I’ll likely not ever understand why or how it’s good, while on this side of Heaven. But, I have evidence of His goodness to help fuel my faith and trust for those times. So with every breath that I am able, I will sing of the goodness of God.
Habakkuk 3:17-19 “Though the fig tree should not blossom, nor fruit be on the vines, the produce of the olive fail and the fields yield no food, the flock be cut off from the fold and there be no herd in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD; I will take joy in the God of my salvation. God, the Lord, is my strength; He makes my feet like the deer’s; He makes me tread on my high places.” Psalms 34:8″ Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him! Psalms 84:11
For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does he withhold from those who walk uprightly.
