| Psalm 8:3 – “When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place” |
Last night, around 7:30, I went out on the front porch to shake our bathroom rugs. I wanted to vacuum the floor, (not knowing my wife had done so mid-afternoon). As I was shaking them (it was plenty dark, thanks to the recent end of Daylight Saving Time), I noticed the moon was nowhere in sight. There were no clouds, so it wasn’t blocked by them. I knew it was in the same sky as the sun, and so was not to be seen until a few hours before sunrise. It is waning. The moon begs me to notice her. Like my wife, when she has showered, washed her hair, dried and curled it, and fixed up really nice, she wants to hear a good word about how she looks.
The moon wants my attention. Sometimes when I have left the house headed for work, I see a full moon in the western sky at 7 AM, before the sun has jumped into the sky. Once I stopped dead in my tracks just to look at her. I once got up at 3 AM to view a blood moon. I was amazed when I learned that we always see the same “face” of the moon. It spins on its axis at exactly the same rate that it revolves around the earth. We never see the dark side of the moon. This world is interesting to me. It demands my attention.
A few days ago, I watched a three legged squirrel climb our pecan tree. I have seen him before. He has adapted to the life he has been dealt.
Father in heaven, thank You for this wonderful word, and thank You for filling it with wonder, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
