On a daily basis, we often encounter those within our workplaces, communities, or even in our own families whose words and actions are harsh, rude and/or overbearing. When we look to social or mainstream media or the entertainment industry, we are given examples of responses to counteract with an angry volley of words or aggressive posturing. According to the world, such responses are not only necessary but are celebrated.
However, today’s text suggests the LORD desires us having an alternative response. This involves deescalating an intense situation with a peaceful and loving approach. Even if boundaries need to be established, we should do so with graciousness and kindness. While taking this type of response may be challenging at times, we can remember His word assures us “Blessed are the peacemakers.
