John 10:7 – “I am the door of the sheep” |
Sheep are habitually blind, defenseless, fearful, straying and dirty animals. They require constant supervision, guidance, saving and cleaning or they will die. Sound familiar?
The Shepherd inspects the sheep before allowing them through the door of the fold for the night. We can enter the safety of God’s fold where there is freedom and rich blessings, through our Shepherd, Jesus. He is the door to everlasting life. Verse 4 & 5 says ‘…The sheep follow Him because they know His voice. And a stranger they simply will not follow, but will flee from him…” We know the sound of our Shepherds voice as it is always in line with Scripture.
The Bible is a great love story between God and his people. Verse 11 says “I am the good Shepherd; the good Shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” We are highly blessed to have a God, that because of His own perfection, manifested Himself into flesh, to be the only acceptable sacrifice for our sins! Jesus obeyed the Father to the point of laying down His life to save us.
To love God is to obey Him. If you ever wonder whether God knows that you love Him, or wonder yourself if you really love God, here is a trustworthy test…do you obey Him? Yes or No? To love God is to obey Him. Let me encourage you to read the Bible, so you can know the truth of the One who lights our path, watches over us, defends and protects us. Know the One who gives us strength, washes us clean and makes us whole. Jesus is the greatest blessing ever offered to you and to me!
