After downsizing my mother, I have been in the mood to clean out things at our house as well. I started with my roll top desk which is not usable for all the stuff stacked on it. I was doing pretty good until I came to some joke, riddle and wise saying books. I thought “Well, I have had them for 20 years and not looked at them.” Then I started glancing through them. Suddenly I was torn and couldn’t part with them. If my children were downsizing me, they would toss them in no time, I imagined. I have so many things like that which are gathering dust but get none of my attention. Why is it so hard? I tell myself that someday I will need it. Most likely, that’s not going to happen.
Father in heaven, help me to hold onto things that are eternal, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
