One year I had the opportunity to visit a town that was famous for their crafts. We toured the woolen mills, the clock shop and the furniture factory. I watched as a plain piece of wood went entirely through the process of becoming a table leg. Each craftsman took care that their part of the process was completed to perfection. If a mistake was made, the process was stopped and then started again with a fresh piece of wood. The defective piece was put aside to be used for some lesser project. I was in awe as I watched each step in the process, and the furniture was exquisite when finished. I remember wanting to buy something to take home, but that level of craftsmanship came with a hefty price.
God created each of us with care and an attention to detail. He watched over us as we were formed in our mother’s bodies and designed us to be unique and special. We are not leftovers or seconds, but perfection every time. How much more valuable are we to him than a table leg or a woolen scarf. And the price he paid for us was the life of his own son.
Prayer: Dear Lord – it amazes me to think that you made each of us exactly the way you wanted. We are precious and valuable to you – so valuable that Jesus died to bring us eternal life with you. Help me to never forget your love for me. Amen
