The Lord told Ananias to seek out Saul who was a man greatly feared by the saints. Although Ananias was terrified, he did what the Lord told him to do. Sometimes it can be so difficult to live by faith. One time my husband and I were flying between two huge banks of thunderstorms. We were pretty calm as their was an opening in the clouds. But eventually, the clouds closed in on us and we were completely blinded in the middle of a thunderstorm. Although neither Jeff nor I were Instrument Flight Rated, we had to rely totally on our instruments and instructions from Air Traffic Control. At times the plane seemed to drop, turn and do anything other than what we thought it should be doing. We constantly had to fight the urge to take control and do what seemed right to us. In flight training, we learned it is imperative that we trust our instruments for survival. Once we got through the storm, our plane was upright and cruising along in the air. We were so relieved that we didn’t take control relying on our own understanding or we would have been dead! Like Ananias, we often want to take control when we are scared and don’t see the big picture. Regardless of the fact that he did not understand the Lord’s request, he obeyed God anyway. In doing so, he brought sight to Saul, who was renamed Paul, and got him started in his monumental walk with God. For Ananias, the journey was frightful, but faith in God prevailed in every way. Sometimes all we can do is trust God for survival, and He is faithful to see to it that we succeed. God is in the midst of working a victorious plan for you and me! Keep the faith, follow Him to the best of your ability and things will work out better than you ever expected!
