Romans 12:9-10 – “Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good. Be devoted to one another in love. Honor one another above yourselves.” |
During these days of tribulation, both near and far, it is easy to lose focus and only see the evil in the world. Even as I am writing this, I am getting another daily news alert on my phone reminding me of all the craziness going on in the world today. When will it stop? Is there any good news?
Today’s scripture tells us there is still hope and it is found in love. We still need to devote our love to one another because love is what gives us hope. We cannot let the evil in this world change our faithfulness to serve. Love always wins over evil. Love is like medicine for the soul. It heals broken hearts, calms fears, and gives us the strength to endure painful moments. When we serve and honor others with our love, no matter how they may treat us, it overcomes evil. As we go about our day, let us be encouraged to use love as a shield against evil thoughts and deeds. If we continue in joyful service, love must prevail.
Prayer: Dear Lord, thank you for loving us. Thank you for showing us how to love. Your love shows us that we will overcome the evil in this world by loving one another. In those dark moments, please give us the strength to continue to be faithful to you. In Jesus name, amen.
