Revelation 12:11 – “And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb…”

I read a short post today about a sheep that had been bitten in the face by a rattlesnake. It described how anti-venom is often made from sheep’s blood. It stated that the sheep only suffered from a couple of days of facial swelling. After a short while, the sheep’s blood had extinguished the venom from its body. I had never heard of this before, so I researched to find out if this was true. Originally, anti-venom was created by injecting horses with venom little by little and then extracting the antibodies from the blood. This anti-venom had some adverse side effects, so they turned to use sheep. The antibodies produced by the sheep’s blood are much more tolerable to the human body.

Normally I read through these types of posts quickly and move on but this one grabbed more of my attention. The blood of the lamb! Revelation 12:11 “And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.” Sometimes the bite of the enemy gets us. The strike reaches our sensitive and vulnerable parts, and a bit of poison gets into our bodies. We swell up in pain and if the bite is harsh enough, we feel defeated.

God’s word tells us that we have a guaranteed anti-venom that destroys the enemy’s poison! It is the powerful, pure blood of the lamb that renders the enemy’s poison powerless. Be sure that the blood of the lamb is flowing through your veins. How do we build up the needed antibodies in our body?

Pray from a position of victory rather than from a position desiring victory. Greater is He that is living in me than he who is living in the world. The battle is already won. Recognize that Jesus is our ultimate champion. Meditate and hide His word in our hearts. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. Tell our story. The retelling of our story holds so much power. Someone needs to hear your story and we need to remind ourselves of the redemption, goodness, and blessings that God has brought in our past.
