Recently upon learning of an event I needed to attend, I began dwelling on all of the reasons why I did not want to participate. The more I thought about it, the more negative my attitude became. My outlook slowly began changing when I started focusing on today’s text.
When wanting to ruminate about all the reasons for dreading the event, I kept asking the LORD to cleanse my heart of the negativity, and to help me embrace the attitude He wanted me to have. Through taking this approach, I began to be flooded with His peace. This experience is a reminder of the choice I have every time I am faced with something I dread. I can either remain mired in negativity, or I can choose to walk in His freedom and joy by seeking Him for a needed attitude adjustment.
Dear Heavenly Father, Even at times when we need an attitude adjustment, thank you for always loving us. When we find ourselves becoming enslaved to negativity, help us remember to ask you to create a clean heart and right spirit within us. In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen.
