| John 3:8 – ” The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” |
Each time I run water in our kitchen sink, I am thankful at how freely the water flows down the drain with no restriction. For years, it has drained, but slowly. Back in 1990, my good neighbor Ed, introduced me to the Drain King. It is a nozzle that attaches to a garden hose, and when forced down the cleanout, and the water is turned on, it acts as a water snake using city water pressure to force out the clog. I have used it many times on our kitchen drain. I have also used a 100 foot power snake that I rented from The Home Depot. But it always seems to drain slower than it should.
A month or so ago, I finally did something that I kept telling myself (and my family) should probably be done. I went up on the roof and ran the water hose down the vent pipe for that drain. I ran water for a few minutes (until it started filling up the kitchen sink. Now, it drains like brand new, wide open. I thought it might be the problem, but always talked myself out of going on the roof to check it out. I have to be careful of what I “think” I know. I need to test my knowledge. I need to listen to those little voices that play in my head. “You probably ought to check the vent pipe on the roof.” My inner voice told me to do that many times. I chose to ignore it. Does The Spirit speak to us in a similar way, bringing verses to our mind at the right time?
Does He help us cross paths with a person who needs our encouragement, or who we need encouragement from? We see the impact of the wind, but we don’t know where it comes from or where it is going. Father in heaven, thank You for The Spirit who guides us and comforts us, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
