1 Corinthians 13:13 – “13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
The things that matter most in life are the things that endure. In caring for patients, especially those who are facing end of life, the questions they ask often concern the ultimate meaning of life. Our passage today reminds us of the things that are eternally valuable. Faith, hope and love are essential for a meaningful and influential life, and love rules supreme.
As we choose the next steps in life, it is wise to prioritize on our love for God and other people. When Jesus was asked to identify the most important commandment he responded “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself’” Matthew 22:37-39 NLT
We do well to focus on the things that endure. Love has a powerful and positive impact for good. God loves you and me! We are invited to respond with love and to share love with others.
