What is your sense of where we are going?
If you listen to political pundits, all is gloom and doom.
Some who watch financial markets are either euphoric or despondent.
We get caught up in the moment and don’t see beyond it. We believe life will either go on as it has or will get worse.
However, none of us can tell the future.
I have a personal philosophy that has stood well for me. Wait a year and it will be different.
I did not say it will be worse, and I did not say it will be better.
I just know it will be different.
And at least in this way, I have never missed.
We need a different perspective on our futures.
Three small ships set sail from Lisbon, Portugal.
As they lost sight of the Portuguese port, in Germany, a pressman was given a copy of the Nuremberg Press.
The editor told him to leave “7 or 8 blank pages at the end of the article on the history of the world.”
The world was so bad that the readers could write the remaining history of the world in a few pages. He believed it would not take much to put the final epitaph on humanity.
I forgot to mention when all of this took place.
The year was 1492.
The captain of the sailing party was an Italian named Christopher Columbus, and he was sailing west.
He would set foot in a different world, one that would bear the name America.
Imagine all that has happened that would not fit on those 7 pages of the newspaper.
When times seem bleak, God remains in charge of the universe.
In the depths of slavery in Egypt, it was getting worse. Babies were born to slaves, one of which was named Moses.
And with Herod the Great ruling Palestine, terror was the rule of the day. And in the city of Bethlehem, a baby was born, and the angels said, “You will name him Jesus.”
