Clutter – 1 John 1:9

Clutter
1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins andpurify us from all unrighteousness.”

A house burned down in Vancouver, Washington. It was a tragedy taht happens daily.

But the reason it happened is even more tragic.

When firefighters arrived at the home, smoke and flames belched from the windows. But they could nto get in or get their hoses close enough.

That’s because of old appliances in the yard and bins stacked high in the entryway. Clothes, furniture, and other clutter both fueled the fire and prevented the fire from being extinguished.

The family lost everything and firefighters risked their lives for a house full of junk.

Clutter is a problem both for emergency personnel and in personal lives. And it’s not just the stuff.

Our hearts and lives get cluttered with so. much junk as well. We neglect life and soon sin creeeps in more and more. People grow used to having it there and do nothing.

But you don’t have to live with spiritual clutter. John reminds us in the above verse.

When the trash in your life piles up, it’s time to take out the trash. Face your failings. Pray for forgiveness. Clean out your soul.

Don’t let tragedy strike your life.
