I attend a church congregation that has a lot of older folks in it. In the last several years, there have been many deaths for all kinds of reasons. I consider most of them to be my friends as we have spent over 40 years socializing together. After the initial shock and sadness of hearing about the loss of each one, then I get super excited for them! Wow, they were here yesterday, some living life in so much pain, others just living life.They just went to sleep and woke up with angels carrying them to heaven! In the words of a coworker, What a ‘grand finale’ to this life! “God will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away! “We are all appointed a time to be born and a time to die.It’s a mystery to all of us as to when that might be.Let’s make it a point to have our spiritual bags packed and be ready to go when He calls us. Let’s be encouraged to stay close to Jesus and honor Him with our life, because He has more blessings prepared for his children than can be imagined.
Dear God of Our Lives, we thank you for the hope of heaven! We thank you for your grace and mercy over our lives. As we live out our lives here today, we trust in you for that day when we enter into “true liv-ing!” Amen
