Our grandson, Milo, and I had this interchange today. Me: “I hate to tell you this, but there is a dinosaur on your shirt.” (Then I acted terrified and pretended to bite my fingernails like they were a typewriter roll.) Milo: It isn’t real. You don’t have to be scared.” Later, as I read a story to him before bed, he had on dinosaur pajamas. Me: “Don’t look now, but there are dinosaurs all over your pajamas.” Again, I feigned terror and fear. Milo: “They aren’t real. You don’t need to be scared.”
I have had real panic attacks in my day. It was all about job-related stress. Milo wasn’t born yet, or he might have told me “You don’t need to be scared.” Jesus said this: “Let not your hearts be troubled. You believe in God. Believe also in Me.” Father in heaven, thank You for reminding us who You are, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
