Mark 9:24 – “Lord, I believe, Help my unbelief!” |
Tonight, my friend Glenn McMillon led our singing at church. One of his selections, “Holy Holy Holy” really grabbed me as we sang…”Holy Holy Holy, though the darkness hide Thee. Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see. Only Thou art holy, there is none beside Thee, perfect in power in love and purity.” Written in 1826, they hit me over the head. So many turn away from God over pain they endure, loss they suffer. One time we boarded a jet on a rainy day. As our plane climbed through the very dark clouds, we suddenly burst into bright sunshine, and clear blue sky. We were above the clouds and no longer beneath their influence. The sun did not change. The words are true:”I believe in the sun even when it is not shining. And I believe in love, even when there’s no one there. And I believe in God, even when he is silent.” Sometimes the darkness hides Him from us. Sometimes our sinful eyes can’t see so well. He IS spirit, after all, and must be viewed through special eyes. Father in heaven, thank You for your faithfulness despite our doubts. Help our unbelief, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
