Psalm 138:8 – “God is at work in my life, and He will perfect everything that concerns me.” |
Perfection – what a scary word. Perfection at school, perfection in our homes, perfection at work, perfection in our relationships, perfection at church. It’s all too much sometimes. I remember spending hours and hours studying for a test and getting a 104 out of 105. The comments from friends and some family members were “That’s nice, but which one did you miss?” Except for an occasional Olympic athlete, I’m not sure any of us will achieve perfection while here on earth. But where does all the pressure come from, and the feeling of low self-worth if we do not achieve it? And who are we allowing to set the standards, to determine our success? And why are we allowing it to stress us so?
I’m so thankful that God is perfect, and that He is working on my behalf. Will life be perfect? Of course not. But His love for us is, and that’s all that really matters.
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, that you do not expect perfection from us, as none of us would be able to achieve that. But you are perfect in your love and care for us. Thank you for loving us. Amen
