Jeremiah 29:11 – “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” |
When we understand this verse in context, we discover that the words were spoken to people in the midst of hardship and suffering. God’s response is not to provide immediate escape from the difficult situation. Rather, God promises that He has a plan to prosper them in the midst of their situation. I absolutely love this!
Christians facing difficult situations today can take comfort knowing that it is not a promise to immediately rescue us from trouble but rather a promise that God has a plan for our lives regardless of our current situation. It serves as a reminder that God is a strong hold in the storms of life and that no matter what we face or go through, he is in control. His timing is perfect and his plan will not fail because God’s power is not limited. His love for us is everlasting.
If you ever find yourself doubting God’s plan, his power, or his goodness, go to this verse and be reminded of the seven truths it offers and be encouraged.
God never lies
God’s timing is perfect
God’s power is sufficient
God’s plan is good
God’s discipline is for our future God’s way leads to hope
God’s love is everlasting
He loves you now as He loved the Israelites then. Be encouraged by the fact that God kept His Word then as He will keep His Word today.
