| Proverbs 19:21 –““Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand.” |
This verse reminds me of James 4:13 where we are told not to make bold statements like, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; because we do not know what will happen tomorrow. When we act with such certainty on things that we really know nothing about, the Lord considers it arrogant boasting, which is evil in His sight.
Our life is only a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead, we ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” Of course, it is fine to make big plans, but be sure to include the Lord in them as He has all the control! He is the One who guards our life. He will steer us in the right direction when we ask Him for guidance.
For example, David was a man after God’s own heart, and he was successful every time that he went into battle after consulting with the Lord. David was successful every time he included the Lord in his plans. With that being said, life doesn’t always go the way we imagine that it should. Sometimes the Lord leads us in a direction away from where we think we are headed. Stay in tune with Him, and trust where He is leading you. Ask Him to close the doors that He does not want you to enter, and open the ones that are right for you.
God may stretch your faith before opening the right door. Stay faithful through all the good and bad times. No matter the situation we find ourselves in, it will not thwart His plans for us, because the Lord’s counsel will always stand! His plan is to prosper us and not to harm us. You and I are on a life journey, entrusting ourselves to the Lord. Whatever He says and does, is in our best interest. Be encouraged that we are loved and in a safe place with the Lord. We can trust Him!
