Matthew 6:8 – “Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.” |
Today was the last day of school. Working for the district, we in the central office got released early, just like the students. I came home before my wife. She had to release the teachers.
I was determined to do some chores. I emptied the trash, all seven cans. Kitchen, laundry room (for dryer lint), son’s bedroom, sewing machine, computer desk, both bathrooms. Then I began vacuuming the floors. I began in the kitchen. When I used the blower on the patio and back porch this week, some grass and dirt snuck under the kitchen door. So, it needed it more than other rooms. Next the den. High traffic areas.
When I got to the hall bathroom, I was using the wand to get beside the toilet. I was reminded of the time, when the vacuum was brand new, that I was using the wand around the toilet and lost my balance. I stuck the wand in the toilet as I tried to catch myself, and the machine was sucking toilet water up the hose. I pulled it out pretty quickly. I didn’t tell my wife. Best she not know some things.
As I daydreamed of my past goof, I noticed the wand got too close to the toilet paper roll, and sucked in the loose end. I pulled it away, but not before it had zipped off a few sheets. I knew because I saw the white paper swirling around in the clear drum on the vacuum. Oops. Don’t tell the Mrs. At least it wasn’t toilet water again.
Life can be “controlled chaos” sometimes. Can’t say I wasn’t trying to be helpful. When it comes to God, I might as well tell Him everything, because He knows all. My prayers need to be real.
Father in heaven, thank You for listening, even though You already know, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
