Luke 11:13 – “If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him? “ |
When finding ourselves overwhelmed, overburdened, or overstressed, Jesus provides us with a simple yet profound response. All we have to do is to ask for “more please”. The “more” needed is the Holy Spirit.
Whatever we are facing, the presence of the LORD in the form of the Holy Spirit is what we need. Just a few of the descriptors found in the scripture about the Holy Spirit include helper, source of truth, advocate, and provider of power and boldness.
When a difficulty in our own lives, a volatile family situation, or strife in our workplace or community arises, we can immediately ask the LORD for more of the Holy Spirit. And, as He pours out the Holy Spirit into our hearts and circumstances, we can experience an atmospheric shift from a feeling of being tormented to one of peace surpassing all understanding.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for sending us the Holy Spirit who is our helper, source of truth, advocate, and provider of power and boldness. Help us to remember that when facing difficulties, our first response should be to pray “More please of the Holy Spirit”. In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen.
