Proverbs 21:23- “Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue, keeps himself out of trouble.” |
We live in a society where ‘nuff said is rarely the option taken. Instead, there is an abundance of encouragement to share our thoughts, express our feelings, and readily state our opinions. While this might be appropriate and even good at times, today’s verse reminds us that it is often a better option to choose silence.
Oversharing and rashly spoken words can cause rifts, lead to misunderstandings, and/or exacerbate a contentious situation. We could probably avoid a lot of strife, especially in sensitive situations, if we paused and prayed for guidance before communicating, no matter whether via spoken word, text, or sharing on social media.
We can consider what is always great to share and can change the atmosphere and lives. There is nothing better to tell than the good news of the love of the Father, the grace of Jesus, and how sweet the fellowship of the Holy Spirit is. When it comes sharing this news, ‘nuff said is never applicable.
Dear Heavenly Father, help us to always choose our words carefully, so that when we speak we glorify you. In the Sweet Name of Jesus. Amen
