1 Peter 3:4 – ” A meek and quiet spirit is great in the sight of God.”
In “Operation Roaring Lion” the Israelites are battling a very evil and tyrannical regime. I looked up why lions roar, and in my studies lions roar for a variety of reasons. But the one attribute that stands out to me is that mostly the males do it to relieve stress.
Because lions have a hierarchy, the ones at the top do the protecting, the warning, and stay on the look out for predators. This is especially so when they have young ones.
Unfortunately, I was known to have a terrible temper and relieved stress by ‘roaring’. My husband helped me to realize that taking my problems out on others was not helpful for anyone. Making others feel threatened or not at peace was not constructive. I was being selfish by not being mindful of what I was saying, or the tone I was using.
I need to be careful of my words and tone! Proverbs 18:21 says
“Life and death are in the power of the tongue”
Now if a lion has the wisdom of knowing when and how to roar, I have no doubt my loving Father gave me even more wisdom.
The Lord tells us to do all things in love, and sometimes keeping my mouth closed is the wisest way to show love. “Even a fool who holds his tongue is considered wise.” Proverbs 17:28.Rather than ranting and raving, being still and quiet-shows meekness and is beneficial to all with much better results! I want to be protective of my listeners by letting His Spirit lead me. This is wisdom.
