Psalm 73:25-26 – Whom have I in heaven but you?  And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

In seasons of blessings or strife, and throughout all the mundane times between, the LORD is the only constant we can rely on.

Regardless of how precisely and thoroughly planned they may be, events can unfold in the most disjointed and unexpected manner.  People can disappoint us. Today’s text reminds us that even our own flesh and heart may fail us.

So, whatever season we are in, whether it is overflowing with joy, or is tumultuous, or somewhere in between, the most solid way of navigating through our day is to continually draw near to Him.  This may be in the form of taking momentary pauses throughout each day to reflect on a specific scripture, expressing gratitude to Him, or praying for His guidance in whatever is next on our agenda.  Through drawing near to the One who has no rival or equal in the earth or heavens, we can experience peace beyond measure.

Dear Heavenly Father, forgive us when we allow our struggles to distort your comforting presence.   Regardless of our circumstances, help us remember you steadfastly remain our provider, protector and the source of our strength.   In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen
