The words we speak and hear can be helpful or harmful. They can declare truth or spread lies. Our scripture provides a clear warning to be watchful over all we say and hear. Sometimes we hear things that appear to be true and good but hide deception and harm. Each day we have the opportunity to speak words of truth and affirmation or spread rumors and misinformation. Make this a day for speaking words that uplift others and be watchful for harmful rumors that cause confusion and pain.
Lord, we thank you for speaking the truth, love, and hope to us each day. Remind us to be watchful for rumors and gossip. Take the thoughts of our minds and the words of our lips as an offering of worship and praise. We affirm the prayer written in your word.
