Psalm 32:7-11 – “You are my hiding place; You keep me from trouble; You surround me with songs of deliverance. Selah 8 I will instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go; I will advise you with My eye upon you. 9 Do not be like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding, Whose trappings include bit and bridle to hold them in check, Otherwise they will not come near to you. 10 The sorrows of the wicked are many, But the one who trusts in the Lord, goodness will surround him. 11 Be glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous ones; And shout for joy, all you who are upright in heart.” |
When I start feeling overwhelmed, my first desire is to crawl in bed and hide under the covers. It’s probably something I have done since before I can remember. It seems childish… a bit ‘wrong’ to do this still in my 40’s, but it grounds me. It’s like a reset button. This blanket space became a form of escape from all the wrongs of the world, it is my hidey-hole.
Now, it has been my way of escaping into the presence of God. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. It hasn’t been the blanket that provided the comfort this whole time, but His presence. He is where the joy is. He is my hiding place. And Satan with his darts of accusations and has tried to prevent me from experiencing the fullness of it!
Thank you God for your faithful, steadfast and personal love for me. Forgive me for being a stubborn mule! Help me keep my trust and shield of faith steady among the flaming arrows around me and show me the way through.
