Psalm 139:17-18 – “How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! They outnumber the grains of sand! And when I wake up, you are still with me.” |
Do you remember the first time you fell in love? Whether as a teenager or a young adult, thoughts of this special person occupied your thoughts and actions. You would wait anxiously for a letter to come in the mail or the phone to ring, or in today’s world, the arrival of a text message or video chat. We could talk for hours with this person, barely sleeping or eating, and counting the minutes until we could be together again. We read their letters over and over again – we could not imagine our lives without this person by our side.
It’s amazing to think that God loved us before we even knew about Him, and that he thinks about each of us constantly. He has already written his love letter to us – how anxious are we to read it? He reaches out to us daily through his Spirit, and through the words and guidance of others. Do we recognize His voice? Do we respond back to Him with loving thoughts of our own?
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father – I cannot fathom the love you have for me, and for each of us. Thank you for your Word which tells me how much you care. Help me to respond to Your love and to share that love with others. Amen
