| Titus 2:7 – “Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works.” |
Years ago, I retired from the family business. I enjoyed the first few weeks organizing pictures, cleaning out the garage, and just doing whatever I saw needed to be done. After that, I needed something worthwhile. I felt guilty, like I was wasting a good life, not giving God the honor He deserves.
If good works show the genuineness of my faith, for me, staying home didn’t fit that model. I was perfectly healthy, had no kids at home, and my husband didn’t need me to take care of him. Scripture says that ‘faith without works is dead.’ I truly want to be a good steward for God and not like a lazy workman unworthy of hire!
I began to make a daily list of what I could do to serve others. God has given each of us unique gifts to serve and glorify Him. My husband used his gift of cooking to make delicious cookies, and I used my gift of encouragement to deliver them to people who needed a little love and a good visit.
When our heart is joined with the Lord, He blesses the work of our hands. He is a sweet and loving God! Keep your eyes on Him, do the best you can to serve Him and let Him work through you.
