Psalms 23:2 – “He lets me lie down in green pastures. He leads me by calm pools of water.”

I had to get up early today. Well, I had reason to is more accurate. The thermostat is programmed to heat up the house at 6:30 a.m. on Saturdays. So when I crawled out to turn off my alarm at 5:15 the room was 63 degrees. I came out of the shower and had to reach into the cabinet for a towel as I forgot to hang one on the hook just outside. Now I was wet and cold. I went back into the stall and closed the door while I got dry. I put on my robe and turned the temperature on the heat to 68. I went to the freezer to pull the turkey out and move it to the refrigerated side. Now my hands were frigid after handling the turkey. I went to get my clothes from our laundry staging room and put on an undershirt. It had just come from the dryer. Instantly I was feeling warm all over. It felt like a hug from my mother after I had fallen and she was comforting me. Or when my dog would sleep with me as a young boy. I understood what “three dog night” meant. I like that “snug as a bug in a rug” feeling. I don’t like crawling into icy sheets on cold nights. Just as our bodies need warmth, our soul needs it even more. Father in heaven, thank You for warming us in Your love, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
