John 9:4 – “We must work the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming when no one can work.” |
Yesterday, it was late in the afternoon, and still 105 degrees or so, according to our back porch thermometer. I was trying to get psyched up to mow the grass. I have to mow it when I have a break with nothing on my calendar.
Afterward reading the mail, I went out to mow the grass with a wet towel around my neck. It was 6:30 PM, and there were some long shadows that I could take shelter under. My wife came out to help. She mowed our back yard and part of the front yard. I was doing the edging and trimming. I finished the mowing and blowing.
As I was edging, a “raindrop” hit my arm, and a few seconds later, it happened again. Then, I realized it was my sweat, and not rain. Sweat always reminds me of the curse God placed on men in the garden of Eden. Hard work and sweat. Hard work always makes me feel good about myself, that I have used my time well. The sweat reminds me that I am toiling.
Father in heaven, thank You for blessing us with hard work. Help us to do it, in Jesus’ name, Amen!
