1 Corinthians 13:4 – “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.” |
We do not have to look far to see that patience is missing within many situations. In congested traffic, when observing the cacophony of blaring horns, angry gestures, and erratic driving, patience often seems to be in short supply. In many stressful work or community situations, patience is often replaced by curt and/or dismissive responses. Sadly, for many families, patience is lacking in their interactions with one another.
Despite the lack of patience within so many situations, we are called as believers to respond differently. Today’s text reminds us extending love to others involves showing patience. This means regardless of how others are behaving, or how stressful a situation is, we can respond with patience. When doing so, we can reflect His love, thereby changing both attitudes and the atmosphere.
Dear Heavenly Father, forgive us when we forget that patience is a fruit of the spirit. When in trying circumstances, help us remember responding with patience is a way of extending Your love to others. In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen.
