| Luke 2:15 – “When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” |
The shepherds had the perfect response to the news delivered by the heavenly host of angels. There was no overthinking or hesitancy about what to do next. Instead, they immediately departed the fields, where they had settled in for the night, to go and see the Messiah.
Everything else could wait, for they had just been told the greatest news of all time: the Savior for all people had been born. Within the frenzied pace of our lives, we sometimes forget the lesson those shepherds taught us all those centuries ago, there is nothing more important than to go and see Jesus. There are countless ways to go and see Jesus, including praying, reading and meditating on His word, listening to praise music, or participating in corporate worship. As we take the shepherds’ message to heart, whether we are in a season of blessings or turmoil, our lives become more peaceful and joyous.
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for loving us so much that over 2,000 years ago in a humble stable in Bethlehem the Savior of the world was born. Help us to remember there is nothing more important each and every day of our lives than to go and see and celebrate Jesus. In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen.
