Matthew 3:16 – “After his baptism, as Jesus came up out of the water, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and settling on him.”
Ever study The Dove? Well, they can fly up to 55 miles per hour-did you know that? Amazing isn’t it?
They are also prolific breeders, laying up to two eggs at a time. They are also mostly monogamous.
They are known to have only 5-6 years of life span, but in certain habitats, especially where they are around humans, as in a captivity situation, can live as old as 30 years!
They are primarily seed eaters, they suck up their water, which few bird species do.
Both parents produce a very nutrient -rich “pigeon”or “crop” milk that they give to their young.
Yet doves are mostly known by what they symbolize. Peace, Love, and Freedom.
In the Bible, Noah sent out a dove twice in Genesis 8:6-12 after the Great Flood to see if there was land out there.First one, returned with an olive leaf. Second one did not come back at all. Hooray! Land!
The greatest mention of the dove, was when the Spirit of The Lord descended in bodily form like a dove upon our Lord Jesus Christ, in Matthew 3:16 and Luke 3:22. He seemed to fill me as I gave Him room. How about you? I know He is very much a gentleman, very gentle, and He is very sensitive, even unto the Quantum smallest of hesitation. Sweet? Yeah. You could say that. Sweet indeed. In Christ,
