|Matthew 7:7-8 – “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.”|
I woke up with this scripture this morning. And all day I couldn’t help but feel so grateful that God gives me what I need. He listens to me ramble on about everything that I want to make sense. I can be raw and honest without fear. He answers me in a loving way. He doesn’t criticize or judge me on my insecurities, wonderings and doubts. That in itself is an amazing gift, but to actually answer me in the way that I need… in the way that I want, is a gift above and beyond. I am so grateful that He doesn’t just tolerate me, but loves on me intently and uniquely.
Life experiences have conditioned to be cynical. I love to ask ‘why’ for everything, myself included. The plus side of this- it helps me be successful at my job and has propelled my spiritual growth. The negative side is this can create friction and distance with people. I have faith in God and I believe IN Him, but I struggle with comfort in the unknown and to believe Him. I know He wants me to have freedom from my stronghold. I can feel that more and more with each cry out for help.
“Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.” John 20:25.
Thomas did not believe the other disciples when they saw Jesus after his resurrection. Jesus later came to Thomas and had him touch his hands and side. God could have just let Thomas be with his unbelief, but He had Jesus come back specifically to give him what he needed to believe. God does the very same for me over and over. He does this for all who seek Him. I am so glad that nothing keeps God from caring about me, not even my doubts. I am so thankful that He doesn’t leave me where I am and He comes back to continually pursue me.
