Psalm 39:7 – “But now, Lord, what do I look for? My hope is in you.” |
There is a lot of emphasis on where items we purchase are sourced. For instance, Idaho potatoes are touted as fluffy and delicious; citrus fruits grown in the Rio Grande Valley are fresh and tasty, and peaches from Georgia are juicy and sweet. The importance of knowing the source of something is not limited to items. This is especially the case concerning hope.
The best source of hope is not from our circumstances or how we feel, for either can change in an instant. Nor is it from people in our lives, even if they are the most trustworthy and are of high moral character. This Scripture, reminds us the best source of hope is the LORD. The reasons are provided throughout scripture. His “faithfulness continues through all generations.” The hope He provides is described as “an anchor for the soul, firm and secure” and the LORD is the “Rock eternal”.
