Psalm 89:6 – “For who in the skies can be compared to the LORD? Who among the heavenly beings is like the LORD”
During a walk in a neighborhood park, I heard the distinctive trill of a cardinal. It didn’t take long to spot my early morning serenader who was sitting high in a nearby treetop. While pausing to admire his distinctive red plumage and listen to his song, I began thinking about the wonderful vantage point he had.
Not only did his lofty perch offer a much grander vista than I had, but it also gave the illusion of being positioned safely away from daily troubles and emerging concerns. I wistfully thought of how fortunate it would be to have this kind of bird’s eye view.
That was when I was reminded that whenever feeling my vision is obscured by worry, difficulties or disappointments I too can have a bird’s eye view. I simply need to turn my gaze to the One whose sovereignty is incalculably higher than anyone or anything in all the earth or the heavens. In doing so, my visual field widens to see beyond my current burdens. Dear Heavenly Father, we are so thankful to be loved by You, the One beyond all comparisons from anyone in the heavens or on the earth. Help us to remember to change our gaze to You anytime when all we can see are our difficulties. In the Strong Name of Jesus, Amen.
