David wrote this as he was trying to escape the reigning King Saul who was trying to kill him because of his severe jealousy of David! David was a famous warrior and had difficulty hiding because everyone knew of him. David trusted God and knew He was the only One who could deliver him. God will deliver us from our sufferings as well. The greatest deliverance of all is the gift of eternal life to those who serve Him.
